Journey Sports was founded in 2022 by a group of dedicated individuals who shared a deep passion for using sports as a platform to spread love, hope, and transformation. Their collective journey began with a shared vision rooted in a commitment to loving God, loving others, and making disciples. This foundation guided the formation of a formal board of directors, each member dedicating prayer, time, energy, and resources to bring this vision to life.
As they embarked on this mission, a unifying theme emerged: to leverage the power of sports to build community, reach people, and transform lives. This vision sparked a movement aimed at inspiring change and spreading a message of hope and love within communities and beyond.

Journey Sports is funded through partnerships in our community. We invite you to join our mission through your tax-deductible donation.
We currently offer basketball programs. In the future, we plan to expand our offerings to include baseball, volleyball, wrestling, soccer, and flag football.
Our programs are open to youth ages 6-18, regardless of skill level.
We operate at various Journey Sports locations, gymnasiums, and school locations in Marion, Cedar Rapids, and Oelwein.
Complete the registration form and submit any required documents. Registration deadlines vary by season, so check the schedule for details.
Athletes need appropriate athletic shoes and sport-specific gear. Some equipment, like jerseys and balls, may be provided. Details will be shared upon registration.
Some programs are open to all without tryouts. Competitive teams may have evaluations to determine placement.

Yes, all volunteers and coaches must pass a background check to ensure the safety of our athletes.
Journey Sports has a review process that evaluates each family's needs and situation. Scholarships are determined on a first-come, first-served basis as funds are available.
